Chen Xiaoxu ( October 29, 1965 — May 13, 2007 ) was a popular actress in China back in the 80s. Her role as Lin Daiyu in the popular drama The Dream Of Red Chamber catapulted her to instant stardom. She later became a nun in a Buddhist monastery in China. She died of breast cancer.
Leslie Cheung Kwok Weng ( 12 September 1956 – 1 April 2003 ) was the Hong Kong teen idol of the 80s. He was a popular singer at the earlier stage of his career but soon became an established actor in movies. At his peak from the 80s to mid 90s, he together with Alan Tam had no competition in the Cantopop industry. He committed suicide ( due to depression ) by jumping from 24th floor of the Hong Kong Mandarin Oriental Hotel. It was very unfortunate that he had to make that decision as his career was still strong eventhough he was no longer that young.
Panrawat Kittikorncharoen ( December 2, 1982 - December 9, 2007 ), commonly known as Big from Thailand was one of the 3 member popular boyband D2B. He died after 4 years in coma and vegatative state caused by a serious car accident.
Lydia Shum Tim Har ( ; 21 July 1945 — 19 February 2008 ) started her career as a child star when she was 13. In her early career, she was more known as an actress but by the 80s, she had become a very popular comediane and a much sought after emcess. He was known for the portly figure, bubbly personality and her trademark, dark rimmed glasses. In her later stage of her career she concentrated on being an emcee for TVB. She died of liver cancer but prior to that she also had numerous health complexities.
Roman Tam ( 16th February 1950 - 22nd October 2002 ) was a Hong Kong singer known for his distinctive voice was regarded as the Godfather of Cantopop. He had a singing career spanning more than 30 years until his death. He died of liver cancer
Anita Mui Yim Fong ( 10th October 1963 - 30th December 2003 ) was a very popular singer from Hong Kong. She started her singing career after winning a singing contest in the early 80s. Her career reached its peak by the end of the 80s. She was regarded as pop diva of Hong Kong and is regarded as the most successful femala Hong Kong singer to this date. She died of cervical cancer.
Danny Chan Pak Keung ( 7th September 1958 -25th October 1993 ) was a popular Hong Kong singer back in the early 80s. He was best known for his ballad songs. He died after falling into coma for 17 months. Though the reason of his death was not publicly known, many believed it was due to drug overdose or alcoholism.
Bruce Lee Xiao Long ( November 1940 – 20 July 1973 ) was a famous martial arts actor. He was not exactly a Buddhist but had inclination towards Buddhism. Born in America but started his acting career in Hong Kong. He was the first actor of Chinese origin to make it big in Hollywood. He died after collapsing in a film studio in Hong Kong. He was believed to have died due to celebral edema.
David Carradine ( December 8, 1936 - June 3, 2009 ) was an American actor famed for his role as Kwai Chang in popular 70s TV series, Kung Fu. He died in Thailand last year but the caused of his dead had not been confirmed
