Happy vVisakha Bucha/Vesak 2009

Today, the 8th of May, is Visakha Bucha, a day to commenmorate the birth, the engligthment and the death of the Buddha. This day is celebrated on various days in different countries based on different calendars used. This year, Visakha is celebrated on the 8th of May in Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia. Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal and Bangladesh will celebrate Visakha Bucha or Vesak Day a day later, on the 9th May 2009. In countries following the lunar calendar, like Hong Kong, Macao and South Korea, it was celebrated on the 2nd May 2009. All these countries declare Visakha Bucha or Vesak Day as national public holidays except In India where it is only a regional holiday.
