In a few days time, Muslims around the world will celebrate the Eid festival. In Malaysia, some section of the Muslims felt offended by a festive ad aired on TV. Yesterday, the TV station apologized to the Muslims during prime time news and stopped airing the ad.
The offended Muslims claimed that the ad, depicting an old Muslim man riding a flying trishaw was influenced by Christianity ( Santa Claus riding flying reindeers ) and the lotus flowers and the lamps were more linked to Buddhism and Hinduism than Islam.
