The Golden Turtle

A 29 year old woman. Singthong in Phitsanulok province, Thailand is getting much attention for her pet, a rare golden turtle. According to the woman, she got the turtle from her father two ago who found the turtle in a fish farm. When she brought the baby turtle home, which was about 5-6 times the size of human thumb then, she rinsed it thoroughly with water and it was then that she discovered the golden color of the turtle. She brought the turtle to a temple, Wat Tha Maung and had it inspected by a senior monk there who told her that the the golden color of the turtle was natural and it had never been dyed before.

From then on, she raised the turtle in her home and said that since then she had enjoyed several monetary windfall. Initially she fed the turtle with little fishes but the turtle did not want to eat. After two years, the turtle has grown much bigger but the golden color remains. The turtle is free to roam the house like any other perts and sleeps on a cloth or blanket daily.

Singthong said that since the picture of her turtle was posted on the internet, she has received several offers to purchase her treasured turtle. One of the offer came from Bangkok with a price tag of 500,000 Bath but she refused to sell it because she has raised it from small and considered it as a blessed and lucky turtle.
