When the clock stroke 0800 on October 1, 2010, a drum was sounded at Ly Thai To Flower Garden marking the beginning of a 10 days celebration of Hanoi's 1000th annivesary. Different stages of the celebration will be held in different locations and temples throughout Hanoi.
At night thousands of people gathered at Hoa Kiem lake to witness the display of fireworks and laser lights.
