She was crowned Miss China Universe two months ago and represented her country at the just concluded international pageant. She was unplaced at Miss Universe 2010 final which was held two days ago.

Born in Yichun, Heilongjiang province, Tang had a less than idyllic childhood. Her parents divorced when she was 3 and she moved in with her mother in Beijing when she was 15.
While in college, she earned money on the side by training prospective air hostesses on how to stand tall and wear the right make up. Her outstanding looks made modeling the obvious choice after graduation. "I knew I would end up in the fashion industry when I was very young," she says.

She has taken to the catwalk for most of the important women's fashion brands in China, and is a regular at China International Fashion Weeks. Tang's selection for the pageant was unusual. She was designated Miss China and sent to the competition directly by NSR, which has a cooperative agreement with the Miss Universe committee.

Faced with a barrage of questions and criticism, the young girl says she "was totally and utterly stressed", but not surprised.

"I felt lucky that NSR sent me directly to the final without holding a selection within the country I think it is because I have experience as an actress, in modeling and was involved in the Olympic Games. I am more qualified," she says.

( In 2008 she was selected as one of the placard holders for the Olympic Games. The top 7 girls were assigned to carry the placards of the 7 top nations competing in the Olympic and she was one of them. After practising for 6 months, she heard rumours about her being replaced a night before the big day and this stressed her out. However it turned out to be false and the following day, she carried the placard of Germany, marching into the stadium during the opening ceremony of the games.

Self Proclaimed "Buddha" Guilty For Rape

A 50-year-old, self-proclaimed "Buddha" was sentenced to eight years behind bars for raping a teenage girl and a 21-year-old woman last month.

During the day, the alleged "living Buddha Maitreya" Gou Shunqi taught his followers Buddhism and acupuncture at his courtyard in Tongzhou district. But at night, he abused his position as a teacher to take advantage of his female students.
"We've failed to track down his other female followers," an official at the Tongzhou district court told the Global Times. "But the evidence and testimony by these two victims are concrete"

During the process of "teaching," he forced a woman surnamed Gu to have sex with him, telling her that it would "strengthen her physical ability to conquer illness." Later, he raped a 16-year-old teenage follower, threatening that if she didn't do what he wanted, her family would be in danger.

The Tongzhou district court found Gou guilty of rape, though he continued to profess his innocence, said the report.

"Nowadays, there have been some rape cases occurring under the banner of health care, superstition or Qi Gong," the court official said. "People should be cautious."
Li Yinhe, a famous sexologist and professor in the Institute of Sociology at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, thought that proper sex education in middle schools should be reinforced, as it "can help with reducing such cases from happening in our country."

Li explained, "In most underage rape cases, those children don't understand what sex really is. Middle school teachers shouldn't ignore sex education."
She suggested that parents and local communities should also pay attention to children's psychological status and strengthen their understanding of sex, especially when they reach pu-berty. "Thus, children can better protect themselves."
Li further pointed out, "Our society should also promote the struggle against blind superstitions as well, since they could be used by some ill-intentioned people as a tool."

Korean Zen Martial Art

Golgul-sa is also famous as the main teaching center for Sonmudo a Zen martial art secretly handed down for over 2,500 years.
